General information

Where provided, the "CARD" containing the serial number and the operation enablement code for the component provided with the vehicle comes together with the vehicle documentation.

This code is also called secret code or anti-theft code.

Depending on the type of component and/or electrical system installed, the code may be requested the first time the vehicle is started or each time there is a break in the power supply or a component is replaced (e.g. after the battery is disconnected, a fuse blows, the Body Computer is replaced, etc.).

If needed, the secret code can be requested via the CSPS by entering a dedicated order, following the procedure indicated below.

Check on rightful ownership

When the Dealer is asked for a new secret code, he should verify the validity of the documentation about the vehicle ownership.

Components that can be decoded

The makes of the components/systems to which this procedure refers are: Bosch, Continental, Magneti Marelli, Delphi and Visteon.

For the old SCUDO (222) and old ULYSSE (121) models, if one of the equipment listed in the following table is not installed, the chassis, model code and serial number must be compulsorily entered in the relevant fields of the "Request for Security Codes" screen (Fig. 7). The serial number for the new Ulysse (179) and new Scudo (272) is the chassis number.

Components branded Bosch and Delphi may also be called Bosch/Blaupunkt or just Blaupunkt and Grundig/Delphi or just Grundig.

For Fiat and Fiat Professional models the systems/components for which the access code can be requested are listed in the table below.

Composition of Serial Numbers

To request the secret code for the component involved, the serial number, which is usually above or next to the actual component on an adhesive label or stamped on a metal plate, is required.

An example is given below for each brand, with the composition of the serial numbers and their position.

BOSCH

Example of serial number: 815BP632862782872 (or 815CM9391C0736647) and 7 612 001 433

There are two serial numbers to enter.

There are 17 characters for the first serial number: 3 numeric, 2 alphanumeric (BP or CM), the remaining 12 are numbers except for the tenth one which could be alphanumeric.

There are ten characters for the second serial number.

The characters are 19: the first three are always "A2C", the other sixteen are numeric.

There are nine characters, the first is always a number, the remaining eight are alphanumerical.

DELPHI

There are two possible types of code.

The first number is a code formed by 22 characters.

The second number is a code formed by two characters "FA" followed by twelve numbers.

CLARION

No secret code/anti-theft code card is provided for Clarion radios.

Clarion radios implement a function called CATS (Clarion Anti Theft System) which allows the customer to program a personal identification number (PIN) to deactivate radio operation in case of theft.

The CATS function remains active once the PIN has been programmed; the CATS can only be deactivated by entering the PIN.

For operations concerning programming and deactivating the PIN, refer to the instructions on the handbook provided with the radio.

As indicated on the radio handbook, remind the customer to:

- Take note of the programmed PIN and keep it in a safe place.

- Contact Clarion Customer Care if the PIN is lost or forgotten.

SECRET CODE REQUEST

Make sure that you have the correct serial number, then carry out the following operations via the CSPS:

• go to ORDER MANAGEMENT (A - Fig. 7) and select the SECRET CODE REQUEST (B) menu item; the screen shown in Fig. 7 will be displayed, now select the following in this order:

1 - Select ORDER TYPE

2 - Insert CUSTOMER DATA

3 - Insert MODEL AND CHASSIS

4 - Insert the equipment serial number

5 - Click on ENTER ORDER. The page shown in Fig. 8 will appear.

Select the following in this order:

1 - Select the delivery address

2 - Insert part number and quantity. (no. 71734883 for Fiat models and Q.ty = 1)

3 - Click on SAVE and CONTINUE. The page shown in Fig. 9 will appear.

• The order will be processed by the system and the secret code will appear in the SECRET CODE field (1 – Fig. 9) after a few days.
• The card reporting this code will be delivered to the selected address.
