GENERAL INFORMATIONFCA vehicles, systems and components are designed, tested and made to protect vehicle occupants in compliance with mandatory legal requirements and company standards with regards to durability, noise/vibrations/rigidity, occupant protection and vehicle safety. The side bags fitted in seats increase the level of protection of passengers in case of side impacts. The seam between front and side upholstery of the seat splits when the side bag fitted in the seat is deployed. Changes to the seat system, including covers, could vary the airbag inflation method and could, in turn, compromise performance of the side bag fitted in the seat causing severe injury. Changes include:
- Only Mopar® genuine spare parts and accessories approved by Mopar®, such as the leather seat covers, are created, designed, made and tested to comply with the mandatory legal requirements and FCA standards. - Using components not specifically tested by FCA could compromise the general balance between these safety systems. - FCA only approves repairs or changes to the side bag system fitted in the seat included in the seat system or upholstery for which Mopar® genuine spare parts or Mopar® accessories are used for FCA brand vehicles. - Unapproved repairs or changes performed not using Mopar® parts or not following the guidelines and repair procedures approved by FCA can increase the risk of injury to owners or current or future occupants of the vehicle. |
