CLAIMED FAULT

On cars equipped with the new Blue&Me control unit having Lauberhorn software, the Customer complains of one or more of the following faults:

1. After a disconnection/reconnection of battery terminals, the Blue&Me system may not work anymore and, as a result, all handsfree communication function with voice recognition and USB Multimedia Player are not available anymore. In some cases, when the Blue&Me system is not working, the odometer starts flashing after the third starting (Key-On).
2. Failed operation of the PND portable navigator after replacing the Lauberhorn control unit (for cars with PND Blue&Me™ TomTom or Blue&Me™ Map only).

In some cases, for Fiat 500 only, the fault 1 above can occur after implementation of Campaign 5454 when fuse F36 is removed.

TECHNICAL CAUSE

The following causes are possible depending on the type of fault:

1. Battery terminal disconnection/reconnection badly performed.
2. Incorrect loading of the navigator applications in the control units supplied by the Spare Parts Dpt.

OPERATIONS AT THE DEALERSHIPS

DEALERSHIP BEHAVIOUR STANDARDS TOWARDS THE CUSTOMER

• Once the claimed fault is confirmed, reassure the Customer that the fault will be solved by restoring the correct operation of the Blue&Me control unit and replacing it, if necessary.
• After completing the operation, illustrate what has been done and ensure that the Customer is satisfied.

Service Solution

Once the customer's claimed fault is confirmed, on cars with chassis number after those listed below, first restore the correct operation of the Blue&Me control unit and check whether the PND navigator application is present on cars with navigator before replacing the control unit as described in the Operating Cycle below.

This SN can be implemented on cars with chassis number after those listed below only, corresponding to cars with Lauberhorn control unit having a software release before 2.0: - 500 from chassis no. 504557 - Grande Punto and Punto Evo from chassis no. 706746 - Grande Punto and Punto Evo from chassis no. 1697124 - Linea from chassis no. 3121597 - Bravo from chassis no. 4308508 - Qubo from chassis no. 181951 - Fiorino from chassis no. 181978 - Doblò Panorama and Cargo from chassis no. 9085546 - Ducato from chassis no. 2178716

OPERATION CYCLE

Once the customer's claimed fault is confirmed, on cars with chassis number after those listed above, first restore the correct operation of the Blue&Me control unit and check whether the PND navigator application is present on cars with navigator only (Cycle A); then, only if the fault persists, replace the Blue&Me control unit with a new one, having software release 2.0 (Cycle B).

CYCLE A - BLUE&ME CONTROL UNIT OPERATION RESTORATION AND CHECK FOR THE PRESENCE OF THE PND NAVIGATOR APPLICATION

• Turn the key to STOP and disconnect the battery negative terminal;
• wait at least 15÷30 seconds;
• properly reconnect the battery terminal.

CYCLE B - BLUE&ME CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT:

The Blue&Me control unit available at the Spare Parts Dpt. was standardised to be installed on more models belonging to more brands of Fiat Group (Unique Spare Part).

On Fiat cars as above, before installing the new Blue&Me control unit, remove the clips and the pin as follows:

• Undo the fixing screws and remove the mounting clips (1 - Fig. 1) from both sides of the control unit.
• Remove the locating pin (2) from the bottom of the control unit, by sawing as shown in the figure.

Then replace the Blue&Me control unit, referring to Op. 5570T49 in the Technical Service Manual.
