FAULT COMPLAINED OF

Engine control warning light switching-on, poor engine performance and different failures due to the presence of obstructions in the fuel supply circuit, in particular in the injectors.

TECHNICAL CAUSE

Recent European Norms allow limited quantities of biodiesel to be added to diesel fuel in the distribution network.

Due to biodiesel, bacteria and mildew might proliferate in vehicle tanks, in case of long stops.

These residues can be easily found inside the tank; they can cause severe damage to the engine fuel supply system as well, requiring injector and/or high and low pressure pumps to be replaced.

This type of problem is often found on motor homes, in particular after winter storage.

OPERATIONS IN NETWORK

To reduce the proliferation of bacteria, mildew and algae that can generate deposits, obstructions and degradation of diesel fuel, Petronas can supply a product called "DIESEL TMF PLUS" (Fig. 1).

This is an additive for antibacterial treatment of diesel oil and is available in 1-l cans. It can be ordered to Petronas with code 25511642.

One litre of additive can treat 250 litres of diesel oil in the vehicle tank.

It is advisable to use this additive before any winter storage of motor homes.
