Check whether the key can be turned freely

Check whether it is possible to rotate the key freely after moving the steering column to the various adjustment positions available for the car model

 

Key rotation is difficult, remove the steering lock from the steering column and go to Step 2

With the item removed, check the free rotation of the key

With the item removed, check both whether the key can rotate freely from the Stop to the Mar-On position and whether the catch has returned

 

1) The key rotates freely and the catch returns, refit the steering lock checking in advance for any obstructions on the steering column

2) The key rotates freely and the catch does not return (see fig.), replace the steering lock

3) Key rotation is difficult, remove the lock from the steering lock and go to Step 3

Check whether the key can turn freely in the disassembled lock

Check that the key can turn freely from STOP to MAR-ON in the disassembled lock

 

1) Key rotation is difficult, replace the lock and refit the steering lock

2) The key rotates freely, replace the steering lock
