CUSTOMER'S REPORTED FAULT

While shifting gears, the transmission passes to neutral, the MIL warning light switches on and the engine sets in recovery mode.

TECHNICAL CAUSE

The customer's claimed fault occurs with DTC P1742, P1741, P2915 and P2916. The problem is due to the too high wear of the Selespeed selector piston.

OPERATION

Implement the check list below.

Stage 1

For each case when Neutral is engaged, errors must be read along with the ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS

To get all information about the faults stored in the TCU memory. Gather all information about the customer's claim.

Record all the values of these parameters

Stage 3

Stage 4

ROAD TEST

Drive the vehicle using the RECORDER and gather these parameters to detect the fault

Drive the vehicle and check this information, if a fault is detected

• "If the fault occurs while upshifting (increasing vehicle speed) (YES ____ NO ____)"

• "If the fault occurs while downshifting (decreasing vehicle speed) (YES ____ NO ____)"

• "The gear displayed on the instrument panel before the fault (DISPLAYED GEAR ________)"

• "The gear displayed on the instrument panel after the fault (DISPLAYED GEAR ________)"

• "If no gear can be engaged, moving the tunnel lever, after the fault (YES ___ NO ___)"

• "If a gear can be engaged, moving the tunnel lever, after the fault (YES ___ NO ___)"

• "If the transmission goes to NEUTRAL or to LIMP HOME MODE (the available gear is the third)"

THE TRANSMISSION GOES TO NEUTRAL _______ THE TRANSMISSION GOES TO LIMP HOME MODE _______

• "If a Key-off/Key-on is needed to engage the gears (YES ___NO ___)"

IF THE FAULT OCCURS DURING THE ROAD TEST

• 1. Stop the recording

• 2. Check if there are any errors and which

• 3. If there are no errors go on driving the vehicle to reproduce the fault several times (5-6 times during a driving cycle)

Go back to the workshop and repeat Stage 2 and Stage 3 to check whether the statistical counters change state

Carry out the "servicing/end of line self-calibration"; when the procedure is over do not carry out a Key-off, rather go back to page PARAMETERS and carry out the parameter reading

Print the new calculated values and disconnect the battery so that the new value is not stored.
