Refitting

- Set the height of the vehicle at level 3 using the adjustment buttons in the dashboard.

- Deactivate the self-levelling suspension control system by simultaneously pressing the two adjustment buttons in the dashboard (for at least 5 secs.) and the LEDs in the buttons should both come on constantly.

- Position the vehicle on the lift.

1. Release the air pipe (1a) from the retaining clips (1b).

2. Undo the lower bolt (2a) fixing the pneumatic spring to the leaf spring and the bolt (2b) fixing the spring to the upper crossmember.

3. Release the hook (3a) on the upper part of the pneumatic spring from the seat (3b) on the crossmember then move the spring to one side.

1. Slightly undo the connector (1a) for the compressed air pipe on the upper shim (1b) for the pneumatic spring until the pressure in the circuit is completely discharged then undo the connector completely and remove it.

1. Remove the tapered inner seal (1b) from the air pipe (1a), then release the rapid connector (1c).

The connector is ruined during the removal so it cannot be kept but must be replaced with a new one.

Removing

- Check that the pneumatic spring is not damaged, otherwise it must be replaced.

1. Tighten a new rapid connector (1a) with a tapered inner seal (1b) on the pneumatic seal.

During this operation take great care to fit the connector properly on the thread to prevent possible damage to the spring upper shim.

1. There are two reference lines (1b) and (1c) at the ends of the air pipe (1a); insert the air pipe about 20 mm into the rapid connector (1d) for the spring or at least sufficiently to leave only one line (1c) showing.

Once the pipe is fitted it cannot be removed without replacing the actual connector.

2. Secure the air pipe in the seat on the pneumatic spring upper shim.

1. Fit the hook (1a) on the upper part of of the pneumatic spring in the housing (1b) on the crossmember.

2. Tighten the upper bolt (2a) fixing the pneumatic spring to the crossmember and the lower bolt (2b) fixing the spring to the leaf spring.

3. Secure the air pipe (3a) using the retaining clips (3b).

- Lower the lift until the wheels of the vehicle are touching the ground and keep it at a height where the weight of the vehicle is not weighing on the rear suspension to prevent the air springs from being compressed (completely discharged) and thereby damaged.

- Start the engine.

- Partly inflate the springs using the special control on the Examiner. When refilling using the compressor, two cycles are sufficient with an interval of at least 20 seconds between them. If refilling from the tank the length of the procedure depends on the starting pressure in the tank: if the pressure inside the tank is move than 12 bar, then 2 cycles are enough; if it is less than 12 bar, then 3 cycles are needed. If the pressure inside the tank is below 9 bar, then the command is not accepted.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

- Reactivate the self-levelling suspension control system by simultaneously pressing the two adjustment buttons in the dashboard (for at least 5 secs.) and the LEDs in the buttons should both go out.

- Check that the system is working properly by carrying out a height alteration cycle.
