Test results |
With vehicle's engine idling and compressor on, check that the gas charge quantity is correct |
Go to Step 2 |
Gas charge not correct |
Restore the correct gas charge |
With vehicle's engine running, climate control system on and passenger compartment heater fan at max. speed (compressor button ON), position the air adjustment knob/button at max. cold, and check for any leakage |
End of diagnosis |
Leakage found in the circuit |
Go to Step 3 |
With the engine running and the climate control system on (compressor button ON), check that the leak is by the system pipe housings, the seat for the drier filter or the pipe couplings at the evaporator assembly |
Go to Step 4 |
Leakage found in the cooling system circuit, due to an O-ring seal failure |
Replace the O-rings and refit the system pipe housing blocks, those for the drier filter housing and those for the pipe junctions on the evaporator assembly |
Withdraw the pipes from the compressor and make sure that the O-rings on the compressor pipes are correctly positioned; specifically check whether there has been pinching |
Go to Step 5 |
Leakage found in the cooling system circuit, due to an O-ring seal failure |
Replace the O-rings and refit the pipes on the compressor |
Check that the O-rings on the expansion valve are positioned correctly; specifically check that there is not pinching |
Go to Step 6 |
Leakage found in the cooling system circuit, due to an O-ring seal failure |
Replace the O-rings of the expansion valve |
Check that the leakage is on other components of the cooling system, specifically other components/pipes of the gas system or the compressor |
Go to Step 7 |
Leakage detected on the examined components |
Restore the seal of the components on which the leakage has been detected and, if necessary, replace them |
With vehicle's engine running, with climate control system on (compressor button ON), check that the leakage is next to the expansion valve |
Go to Step 8 |
Leakage next to the expansion valve |
Replace the expansion valve Op. 5040B30 EXPANSION VALVE (ORIFICE TUBE) - R+R |
With vehicle's engine running and climate control system on (compressor button ON), check that the leakage is next to cracks or breakage of the condenser |
Go to Step 9 |
Leakage found in the condenser |
Replace the condenser Op. 5040A40 AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER - R.R. |
With the engine started and the climate control system started (compressor button ON), check that the leak is next to the evaporator assembly or the bend in the pipes |
End of diagnosis |
Leakage next to the evaporator assembly |
Replace the evaporator assembly Op. 5040C64 A/C EVAPORATOR - R+R |
