FAULT COMPLAINED OF

Failed operation of one or more electric devices connected to the front wiring.

TECHNICAL CAUSE

Breakage of one or more cables of the front wiring as a result of interference with windscreen wiper arm.

OPERATIONS IN PRODUCTION

The assembly of a clip ensuring a correct layout of wiring is guaranteed, to avoid any interference with the windscreen wiper arm.

OPERATIONS IN NETWORK

Network behaviour standards towards the Customer

  • Once the customer's claimed fault is confirmed, reassure the Customer that the fault will be removed by repairing the damaged cables and securing the wiring to the bulkhead in the engine compartment.
  • After the operation, show the Customer what has been done and make sure he is satisfied.

Service Solution

Once the customer's claimed fault is confirmed, repair the damaged cables and securing the wiring to the engine compartment bulkhead according to the Operating Cycle below.

OPERATION CYCLE

Working on the right side of the vehicle and making reference to the procedures of the Service Manual (Op.), proceed as follows:

  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove the moulding/frame above the front right light cluster (Op. 7055A65).
  • Remove the moulding under the right front light cluster (Op. 7055A66).
  • Remove the right front light cluster (Op. 5540B71).
  • Check the integrity of the cables of the front wiring next to the windscreen wiper arm, close to the partition duct (Fig. 1). If some broken/damaged cables are found, repair them.
  • After repairing the cables and checking the restoration of the correct operation of the relevant electric devices, place some tape around the wiring.
  • Place a clip (1 – Fig. 1) in the tucker on the bulkhead between engine compartment and passenger compartment, then lay the wiring under the windscreen crossbeam and fix it with the clip previously fitted as shown in Fig. 1.
  • Close the clip making sure that the closure of the clip is facing upwards.

For the repair of cables with diameter up to 4 mm, refer to the repair operations of the cables for the connectors listed in the procedures of group 5590 of the Service Manual, using the thermal shrinking sleeves available as Spare Parts with the following order numbers:

11105380 – for cables with section 0.1–0.35 mm

11105485 – for cables with section 0.5–1.0 mm

11105582 – for cables with section 1.0–2.0 mm

11105681 – for cables with section 2.5–4.0 mm

  • Refit the right front light cluster (Op. 5540B71).
  • Refit the moulding/frame above the front right light cluster (Op. 7055A65).
  • Refit the moulding under the right front light cluster (Op. 7055A66).
  • Connect the negative battery terminal.
  • Check the alignment of the light beam (Op. 5540B38).
