ATTENTIONAll the operations should be carried out taking great care to avoid personal injury. The engine compartment contains many moving parts, components at high temperatures and live wires. Follow very carefully the precautions described below when carrying out operations in the engine compartment:
The use of special tools is required for certain procedures. The use of these tools is vital for working safely. Follow the current workshop safety regulations. Where necessary, the Manual contains specific procedures to be followed in order to prevent dangerous situations from arising. When using chemical products, scrupulously observe the safety instructions on the safety card that the supplier is bound to deliver to the consumer. WARNINGSAll the operations should be carried out taking great care to avoid damaging components. Before carrying out any operation involving electrical system components, including disconnecting the battery, make sure that the ignition key is in the STOP position. To release parts that are sticking, tap gently using an aluminium or lead hammer if iron materials are involved; use a wooden or resin hammer for light alloy parts. When dismantling, check that components that should be marked have the appropriate references. When refitting, lubricate the parts, where necessary, to prevent seizing or binding during the initial operating period. When refitting it is vital to follow the tightening torques and adjustment data. Each time they are refitted, replace gaskets, oil seals, flexible washers, safety washers, self-locking nuts, pre-treated screws and all parts that have deteriorated. Use adhesive paper or clean cloths to suitably protect those parts of the engine which, if they remain uncovered after dismantling, will allow dust or foreign bodies to enter. Only genuine spare parts should be used to replace units or components that have been removed: this is the only way of ensuring the interchangeability and perfect operation of the various components. Each time the fuel supply system high pressure pipes are dismantled:
must be replaced using new pipes supplied by the Parts Department. |
APPLICABLE TO VERSIONS WITH: Self-levelling suspension

SPECIFICATIONSIn the event of a repair by the FIAT service network which involves disconnecting the connection or dismantling the sensor from the gearbox, it will then be necessary at the end of the repair to go to an authorised workshop operating under the ACTIA system (on the list) to position a new lead seal. The supplier of the system is not responsible for applying the lead seal. Management of the warrantyThe warranty for the digital tachograph and the speed sensor is managed directly by the ACTIA group via the network of service centres authorised to work on ACTIA systems. For repairs relating to these components, go to a service centre authorised to work on ACTIA systems. The ACTIA group is directly responsible for the labour costs of their service centres authorised to replace a faulty component, downloading and handing over data from the previous equipment to the client company (when possible) and for the replacement components (digital tachographs and/or speed sensors) broken under warranty. TIGHTENING TORQUESThe table below contains the tightening torques to be used during the repair cycle if there are no specific instructions. The figures refer to the resistance grades of the materials most frequently used in production.
