The vehicle brake lights are located at the rear in the light clusters on the cross member.

They are activated, by means of the dedicated switch on the brake pedal, each time the pedal is pressed.

The switch fitted on the pedal unit consists of two contacts which supply two signals: the first is the N.A. type, which recognizes the position of the brake pedal if it is not in the rest position; the second is the N.C. type, which recognizes the position of the brake pedal in the rest position.

The lights are turned on by the N.A. contact (pedal pressed). The N.A. switch information is sent, in particular, to the engine management control unit.

The function is active under the following conditions:

• enablement signal with key inserted in the ignition (INT) and turned to MAR-ON;

• control signal from the above switch.

The Body Computer manages the correct operation of the function, detecting the following possible faults:

• open load also without any command;

• load short circuited to earth or Vbatt;

• bulb missing or replaced with one of inferior power.

When one of the situations described above is verified, the Body Computer makes the failure status available to the CAN: a special "exterior light failure" warning light comes on in the instrument panel and, at the same time, the information is shown in the display.
