Removing ( Refitting )

Before removing the steering wheel position the wheels as parallel as possible to the vehicle's longitudinal axis.

Before removing and refitting the Air Bag module, the following preliminary operations must be carried out.

- Turn the ignition key to the STOP position.

- Wait for 10 minutes before continuing.

1. Undo the nut (1a) and the bolt (1b) and remove the strut (1c).


1. Remove the cap from the brake/clutch fluid reservoir (1a) and fit the tool (1b).

Hermetically seal the brake fluid reservoir

 

1. Open clips (1a), release retaining device (1b) and release the brake servo shoe from the brake pedal.


1. Open the clip (1a) and disconnect the pipe (1b) from the clutch master cylinder to the hydraulic actuator.

2. Remove the fastening band (2a) and disconnect the pipe (2b) from the brake/clutch fluid reservoir to the clutch master cylinder.


1. Undo self-locking nuts (1a) and remove pedal assembly (1b).


Refitting ( Removing )

- Check that the pedal assembly is not damaged.

- With the help of a second mechanic, hold the brake servo in place while the pedal unit is being fitted.

1. Position small cup housing brake servo shoe spherical head (1b) onto brake pedal (1a).

2. Fit a new retaining device (2a) to secure the brake servo shoe to the brake pedal and close fastening clips (2b).

Always replace the retaining device securing the brake servo shoe each time it is removed, even if it appears to be undamaged.

- Grease the brake servo shoe spherical head as well as its housing on the brake pedal.

- Position the complete pedal unit and insert the brake servo shoe spherical head into its housing on the brake pedal retaining device.

- Tighten to the recommended torque the nuts securing the pedal unit to the brake servo and the bodyshell.

- Connect the pipe from the brake/clutch fluid reservoir to the clutch master cylinder and secure it with the fastening band.

- Connect the pipe from clutch master cylinder to the hydraulic actuator and secure with the clip.

- Remove the tool from the brake/clutch fluid reservoir and fit the cap.

- Fit the strut in place and tighten the nut and the bolt to the recommended torque.
